BIO


Keanu Arcadio is a British writer born and raised in London. He studied Fine Art: Sculpture at the University of Brighton where he began writing short stories whilst holding an art practice for a few years before doing a Masters in Modern and Contemporary Literature with the University of London, Birkbeck. He mostly writes literary fiction. His short stories cover relationships, cities, family, motherhood, friendship, race, class, money, the everyday. He has lived in London, Berlin, Glasgow, Seoul, Shanghai, and Beijing.

His literature takes on a range of influences such as: Henry James, D.H Lawrence, Jack London, Woolf, Henry Miller, Lu Xun, Dostoevsky, Murakami, William Carlos Williams, Raymond Carver, Orwell, Don DeLillo, Joan Didion, Sherman Alexie, Junot Díaz, Bruce Nauman, Duchamp, Jenny Hozler, Hegel, Emerson, and others.

He writes direct no nonesense prose blending modernist tropes, 19th century realism, contemporary chaos often collapsing pop culture, the internet, ‘high literature’, languages into his own.

He teaches AP humanity courses to high school students in a bilingual school in Beijing when he is not writing.
